At the end of April, eleven of the Community Fishing Programs expansion waters were stocked with catfish. Ponds stocked include Bonsall (Glendale), Discovery and McQueen (Gilbert), Pacana (Maricopa), four Yuma waters (Redondo Lake, Fortuna Lake, West Wetland Pond, and Council Ave. Pond), Roadrunner and Granada (Phoenix), and Eldorado (Scottsdale). The Arizona Game and Fish Department has posted the 2014-15 Arizona Hunting Regulations online at www.azgfd.gov/draw. The Arizona Game and Fish Department, in cooperation with Mohave County and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), succeeded on April 22 in creating a short-term solution to provide recreational fishing opportunities this fall in the Willow Beach-Bullhead City area. Lyman Lake State Park in northeastern Arizona is a 1,500-acre lake with no size restrictions on boats and is now open for camping reservations. The park re-open on May 2 for the summer season. Picacho Peak State Park, the famous Peak between Phoenix and Tucson, will close for the season from May 23 to Sept. 23. Homolovi State Park is closed temporarily until May 28 for road construction and improvement work by Arizona State Parks. This roadwork was paid for by a $199,879 contract funded with Arizona Department of Transportation Roadside Development funds for Arizona State Parks to repair the main roads through the park. Superstition Search & Rescue (SSAR) uses its remote controlled quad-copter Eagle 1 to search the remote canyons and locate the wreckage. Team members follow with blue paint to mark the wreck and establish the GPS coordinates. Imagine that you have just taken a spill in one of the out-of-the-way canyons in the Superstitions. The Arizona Game and Fish Department implemented Stage 1 fire restrictions at all department wildlife areas on April 18. The restrictions are part of the restrictions issued by the Arizona State Forestry Division on state-owned and state-managed lands outside incorporated municipalities due to the increased risk of wildfire in the state.
