The early June awards party at the Bali Hai Restaurant, San Diego, honored the best anglers of the 2013 International Yellowtail Derby. Marc Nunes of Point Loma was the overall Yellowtail (YT) winner with a 35-pound fish he caught off La Jolla on live bait. Page, AZ – On June 28, 2013 at approximately 6:30 pm a 5-year old boy was killed in a boating accident uplake from Bullfrog near buoy 110 by Tapestry Wall. The child was riding in the bow of the boat, when the vessel hit a wave. The boy fell out of the vessel, was struck by the propeller and was killed instantly. The early spring discovery of 14 adult quagga mussels at Lake Powell is a crucial reminder to boaters to clean, drain and dry their boats after every use to help prevent the spread of these destructive invasive species.
