SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Department of Boating and Waterways (DBW) announces the 14th Annual Life Jacket Trade-In. Events will be held at 30 locations across the state on May 24 and 25. Of the 53 boating fatalities reported to DBW last year, 33 drowned. All drowning victims were found without life jackets on. Editor, I went to a training session in Lake Mead in October and the alarm bells went off. With no real plan being developed by the agencies, other than "its the law," I was fearful California, Arizona, and Nevada could kill our weekend boater traffic. This $1 Million dollar check from Mustad was awarded to Guy Yokum because he used a Mustad hook. Yokum was the first in 2012 to submit and get his world record fish on a Mustad hook.
