The early spring discovery of 14 adult quagga mussels at Lake Powell is a crucial reminder to boaters to clean, drain and dry their boats after every use to help prevent the spread of these destructive invasive species. The Arizona Game and Fish Department and its partners are lifting some of the closures at lakes and rivers statewide that are put into place annually to help bald eagles during the breeding season. Arizona Game and Fish Department officials have confirmed the presence of largemouth bass virus in Lake Pleasant. Lab tests on largemouth bass tissue samples collected during a routine survey in October by Arizona Game and Fish and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service personnel showed presence of the disease in some samples. As we make plans to go out to the lake, we have listened to the weather forecast and storms are either not identified or most often not talked about because the chance is slight. As you go about your day on the lake, be vigilant of those storm cells that are small and fast moving. Most often, you will have a great amount of wind blowing through the area prior to the rain.
