  • At Lake Powell

    WOT|Sep 15, 2013

The public is asked to use extreme caution when using the public launch ramps at Lake Powell. The decrease in water levels has reduced the depth of water in these areas, creating shallow water on the ramps with steep drop-offs. The deepest launch ramp at Lake Powell continues to be Wahweap main ramp. Different boat/trailer combinations require varying depths of water, so remember to assess the water depth for your boat before launching. “We had a similar issue nearly a decade ago,” said Sup... Full story

So, it's important to know the water levels and where you are and to always do a “sanity check” of your surroundings and coordinates. Before You Go • Get a well-fitting life jacket and have the dog wear it a few times around the home before they get on a boat. Any pet life jacket should have a handle to easily lift the animal out of the water. Check BoatUS.com/doglifejacket. • Have a special ID tag with the name of the boat, marina, slip number and cellphone number on it just in case. If the dog gets lost, it's a lot easier for the person who finds them to get them back to you quickly. • If you'll be going to Canada or Mexic... Full story

  • Stormy Weather

    Ron - Rose Werner, USPS|Aug 15, 2013

Most of the time you will have a great amount of wind blowing through the area prior to the rain. If you were paying attention to the weather, then the best thing to do is to move to a sheltered cove and just wait for it... Full story

Set the example for others to follow — your fellow boaters, your children or your guest upon your boat. Boating accidents can be horrible and deadly; approximately 8... Full story
