(Phoenix, AZ - July 29, 2013) - The Arizona State Parks Board members unanimously approved Larry Landry as the next Chairman of their 7-person volunteer Board. Director Bryan Martyn said, "Larry brings a wealth of expertise from the private and public sectors and we are fortunate to have him guide us throughout this year."
Mr. Landry said, "Arizona State Parks is the most entrepreneurial, dynamic agency in State Government. Arizona State Parks is the leading cultural resource agency in Arizona and I will work to bring a sustainable future to Arizona's rural and urban communities' Natural Economic Assets."
For more than 20 years, Landry represented Arizonan, Alaskan and Tribal communities and was previously President and CEO of Landry, Creedon & Associates, Inc., a Phoenix-headquartered consulting firm with a Washington D.C office. He has also worked for the Office of the Governor, State of Arizona in the Office of Economic Planning & Development and for the Phoenix City Council.
Landry received his B.A. in Government, from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Indiana and his M.S. in Urban Affairs, from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also received the National Training and Development Service Managing Change Expert Award.
The Arizona State Parks volunteer Board is appointed by the Governor and holds meetings throughout the year guiding staff in accomplishing the agency's Mission. This year the Board also consists of Alan Everett, Vice-Chair (Member-at-Large), Walter D. Armer, Jr. (Past Chair, Livestock Industry), Kay Daggett (Tourism Industry), R.J. Cardin (Parks and Recreation Industry), Mark Brnovich (Member-at-Large) and Vanessa Hickman (State Land Commissioner).
