Sportfishing Industry Association Appoints New Industry Relations Vice President

Industry veteran Glenn Hughes joins the American Sportfishing Association staff

Alexandria, VA – November 8, 2013 – The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) is pleased to announce that Glenn Hughes, a sportfishing industry veteran and long-time ASA member, will be the new Vice President of Industry Relations. His tenure begins on December 1, 2013.

"Adding a senior staff member with a strong industry background will help ASA do an even better job of serving our members as our industry adapts to the economic and environmental changes that are impacting recreational fishing," said ASA President and CEO Mike Nussman. "Not only does Glenn have more than 25 years of experience in the sportfishing industry, most recently with the Saltwater Fishing Group of Bonnier Corporation, he is also very familiar with how an association works having served on several program committees and as Chairman of ASA's Data and Statistics Committee."

Nussman noted, "For 80 years ASA has worked to unite our industry and lead the way for recreational fishing's future. We are poised for a new era, mindful of what has kept us together through eight decades of change with our sights firmly on the future. Adding Glenn to the staff will help us move our vision forward."

"I am honored that I was selected for this position," said Hughes. "I will do my best to serve the recreational fishing industry and look forward to supporting its members as the new Vice President of Industry Relations. Fishing has brought so much joy to my life and I will do my best to help the association improve our nation's fisheries, increase participation in our sport and increase the bottom lines for our members."

Hughes grew up fishing the lakes of Pennsylvania and along the Jersey Shore. He has lived for more than two decades in Florida honing his fishing skills in coastal waters all along the U.S. coastline as well as in Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean.
