Audit Report, Department’s Response Released
(PHOENIX) – The Arizona Office of the Auditor General has conducted an audit of the Arizona Game And Fish Department and made its report public today on the Auditor General’s website (http://azauditor.gov/). The audit thoroughly examined the Game and Fish Department’s systems, programs, resources and personnel and provided recommendations for enhancements in three areas: internal controls, big game draw process, and information technology.
“We appreciate the diligence of the Office of the Auditor General,” said Game and Fish Department Director Larry D. Voyles. “Our response provides additional clarification and information on issues raised in the findings, but overall, we believe that the audit will be very helpful and identifies ways in which the Department can improve.”
“We were pleased to learn that the audit did not identify significant concerns in several key areas reviewed, such as capital assets, cash receipts, bidding, credit cards and payroll expenditures,” said Voyles. “The Department has accepted and is working to implement all of the auditors’ recommendations.”
The audit was conducted over a 12-month period. The Office of the Auditor General regularly conducts audits of state agencies.
