Fatality at Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon, Ariz. At approximately 1:10 p.m. the Grand Canyon Regional Communications Center received a call reporting an individual that had fallen off the rim at Mather Point located on the South Rim of Grand Canyon.

National Park Service Helitak crew located the body, approximately 400 feet below the rim. National Park Service Search and Rescue crews are working to recover the body. Mather Point is currently closed to the public and will remain closed until further notice.
