Times Spent Outdoors: Priceless!
Ben Avery Clay Busters (BACB) will kick off its Cactus Wren beginning trap league on Thursday, Sept. 4, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Ben Avery Clay Target Center, located at 5060 W. Skeet Street, PHOENIX, AZ 85086.
A nine-week program, it will be held weekly on Thursday evenings, culminating with an Awards Banquet to celebrate the success of the beginning trap shooters on Wednesday, Nov. 5, This program certifies each participant in the NRA Trap Shooting Course of Fire for Shotgun, and teaches the rules and etiquette of the sport by providing one-on-one coaching and instruction to develop shooting skills.
The program is open to youth from 10 years old to adults, and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis as it is limited to 20 new shooters total. For those without a personal shotgun, loaner shotguns are available through the Ben Avery Clay Target Center (CTC), and will be reserved through the Ben Avery Clay Busters.
The league fee is $40 for adults and $25 for youth, with additional costs for weekly targets (50 targets each week). Additional information/ registration forms may be obtained by contacting Marci Welton, President and Director of Education, at (602) 571-4055 or at baclaybusters@gmail.com.
The foremost goal of this program is to teach new shooters safe handling in the use of firearms and to develop their confidence to participate in Ben Avery Clay Buster leagues and/or competitive Amateur Trap Association (ATA) tournaments.
