BLM Kingman to Host National Public Lands Day Event

Kingman, Ariz. – To celebrate National Public Lands Day (NPLD), the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Kingman Field Office, along with the Bullhead 4 Wheelers, will host a NPLD volunteer event on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Volunteers will help install an informational kiosk near the Mount Nutt wilderness boundary in the area of Secret Pass Wash. Project work will involve the use of hand tools, digging, and some lifting.

Participants are asked to meet in Golden Valley, Arizona, on the corner of Bolsa Drive and Ganado Road. From Hwy 68, take Egar Road south until you reach Bolsa Drive. Turn right onto Bolsa Drive. Once on Bolsa Drive, follow the road for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach Ganado Dr. The Bullhead 4 Wheelers and BLM recreation staff will depart from this location at 8:05 a.m.

It is recommended that volunteers bring sunscreen, wear sturdy boots, and dress in layers as the morning may be cold with temperatures rising as the day progresses. Gloves, water, and tools will be provided by the BLM. Participants may want to bring a snack or lunch, as the work will take approximately 4-6 hours to complete.

For more information about this event, please contact Kingman Field Office Outdoor Recreation Planner Matt Driscoll at 928-718-3736 or visit http://www.publiclandsday.org/npld-sites/secret-pass-wash.
