Storm Damage Closes Cave Creek Office and Boulder Recreation Fishing Dock

Scottsdale, Ariz. (September 12, 2014) – Flooding from recent storms have caused the temporary closure of the Cave Creek Ranger District office. During the closure please contact the Mesa Ranger District or the Supervisor’s offices with any questions. The daily Tonto Pass can be purchased by area vendors. Visitor’s wishing to purchase the Annual Tonto Pass can obtain it at the remaining Tonto National Forest offices or online at http://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/tonto/home/?cid=stelprdb5274504.

Maricopa County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) has cleared Forest Road 20 (Needle Rock Road) but debris may still be present along the beach until Forest Service crews can get the area cleaned up. Forest Road 41 (Table Mesa Road) and Forest Road 479 east of Horseshoe Lake were also damaged and are currently impassable.

The fishing dock located at Boulder Recreation site at Canyon Lake has also been closed because of storm damage. This dock will remain closed until the dock can be replaced. Under the closure order it is prohibited to enter or use the Boulder Recreation site fishing dock.
