Schooner Cup Returns To San Diego Bay

Tall Ship Californian To Sail

San Diego—The Silver Gate Yacht Club will be hosting the 27th running of America’s Schooner Cup Charity Regatta in San Diego Bay on Saturday, March 28.

The Maritime Museum’s tall ship Californian, will be participating in the race. Proceeds from this annual event benefit the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS)which is a civilian organization that provides support to active duty and retired Sailors, Marines and their families in time of need.

Over the years American’s Schooner Cup has raised well over $100,000.00 for this worthy cause. Funds are raised through various events that include silent auctions, raffles and direct cash donations.

All net proceeds from these events go directly to the Navy-Marine Relief Corps Society. The America’s Schooner Cup Race is a Silver Gate Yacht Club Foundation 501-(c)-3 fund raising event to benefit the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.

All donations are tax deductible. Race starts at noon and best viewing is on Shelter Island or the embarcadero.

Event takes place on Saturday, March 28. Tickets to sail on the Californian are $65 for adults and $48 for children and can be purchased online through the museum’s website at http://www.sdmaritime.org.
