Times Spent Outdoors: Priceless!
Grand Canyon, Ariz. – Grand Canyon National Park invites the public to start the celebration for the upcoming National Park Service Centennial on Saturday, November 7 and visit the REI Village.
In partnership with REI, a premier sponsor for the “Find Your Park” NPS Centennial campaign, an interactive “village” will be set up at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center between 10 am and 4 pm this Saturday. The REI Village creates an opportunity for visitors to join in on a backyard-style party full of games, giveaways, and lots to discover. The traveling REI Village celebrates the fact that “A life outdoors is a life well-lived”. Visitors can learn about the NPS Centennial through interactive maps of national parks, camping games, historical camping artifacts and an Instagram station. All of the activities are free to park visitors.
Grand Canyon National Park staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide tips for having a safe and enjoyable visit. Representatives from other public land management agencies including Arizona State Parks will be present to provide visitors with information about visiting other public lands.
Find Your Park is a public awareness and education campaign celebrating the milestone centennial anniversary of the National Park Service in 2016. Funded through the National Park Foundation, the campaign invites the public to see that a national park can be more than a place—it can be a feeling, a state of mind, or a sense of American pride. Please visit http://www.FindYourPark.com to learn more about the upcoming centennial, how you can get involved, and how to share a story of your “park” experience.
