Times Spent Outdoors: Priceless!
Ranger Tugs launched the 2018 R-27 at TrawlerFest in Bremerton, WA. This all new model was an immediate success with much demand and multiple orders taken. She has a fast, dry ride and in keeping with Ranger Tugs’ tradition, an abundance of accommodation space.
The R-27 is the newest member of the next generation of Ranger Tugs. This vessel has the distinctive modern styling and innovative design cues of the larger R-29S in a compact yet capable layout. This includes a curved front window and an overhead glass atrium, which deliver exceptional visibility throughout the cabin.
The dynamic hull design incorporates reverse chines for stability and comfort at all speeds and our patented Laminar Flow Interrupters for smooth, positive cornering. The powerful Yamaha F300 electronically controlled outboard makes her fast and reliable. Docking and maneuvering are made easy as a bow thruster comes standard, and the opening windows on both sides provide great visibility and an easy way to hand a dock-line ashore.
“We’re excited to have another new tug in our lineup. The versatility of Outboard power, her size, speed, and accommodations, along with our new styling should make this mid-size tug very popular,”
The fully equipped helm features a complete Garmin electronics package including an autopilot with remote and thruster controls. The helm comfortably seats two and all controls are easily visible and accessible. The double helm seat reverses to face the starboard hi/low table that seats four and can be converted to a double salon berth. The entertainment package includes a flip out TV/DVD player integrated into the stereo for great fun and relaxation on movie night. To port is a fully equipped galley with a two-burner propane stove plus oven, and built-in microwave. The refrigerator/freezer sits below the counter space and passenger seating. A deep stainless steel sink is centered on the counter, with plenty of drawer and cupboard storage below.
Aft opposite the galley there is a windowed mid-berth beneath the salon and dining table which can provide accommodations for guests or be used as storage. Contemporary lighting, includes standard overhead lights which also contain red chart lights for nighttime navigation, yellow accent, and indirect lighting throughout the cabin flows out onto the aft deck.
A step down forward leads into the private double stateroom that can also be converted into a table and seating area. There are opening hatches for ventilation and port holes to keep the cabin light and airy. An ensuite electric marine head and shower are to starboard and hanging locker and bench seat for dressing are to port.
“Driving our first Ranger Tugs Outboard powered boat the R-23 was so much fun that we knew we had to build a bigger one. My dad (renown hull designer Dave Livingston) started working on a new hull design for the larger outboard powered Ranger almost immediately. We incorporated the hydrodynamics and other proprietary performance enhancements we have developed over many years to create a fast and efficient hull on the new 2018 R-27.”
The spacious cockpit has plenty of potential for entertaining, fishing and a world of water activities. All of this is brought together with a Fusion entertainment system with separate zones for music inside and out. There is flip down seating aft, a removable table in the cockpit as well as a built in electric grill, cooler/baitwell. A door to starboard brings you onto an ample swim platform with a built in stainless swim ladder.
Ranger Tugs is the number one selling inboard boat in America between 24 and 40 feet. Now with the introduction of their second outboard powered tug they are building a solid reputation in this new segment.
