Times Spent Outdoors: Priceless!

On The Cover April 2021

Savor The Springtime

We salute spring in the Southwest, one of the best times of the year to get out and enjoy the wildflowers, hiking, biking, boating, fishing, bird watching, etc. The "venue menu" is endless - literally a buffet of welcoming outdoor activities, many available very close to home.

With thanks to Arizona State Parks and Tempe Tourism, we've included their suggestions for and descriptions of both local and statewide destinations that are particularly suited to excellent hiking opportunities.

And, speaking of Tempe, Ariz., we especially thank our friend and writer Lawn Griffiths for his article on the city's upcoming sesquicentennial celebrations and the big 150th birthday party set for Sunday, Nov. 7 at Tempe Beach Park. Griffith has included some interesting information on Tempe's history and pioneers.

April is a great time to taste the incredible outdoor potluck spread before us and to savor all that a Southwest spring has to offer.
